The BD stent is the first fully biodegradable, oesophageal stent available on the market. The stent is made from Polydioxanone (PDS) material and is currently indicated as an alternative treatment option to repeated balloon dilatation of benign oesophageal strictures and achalasia that are refractory to standard therapy.

Features

• Stent integrity and radial force maintained for 6-8 weeks (pH dependent)
• Stent degradation occurs 11-12 weeks post implantation (pH dependent)
• Modified dual 'flared-end' design to reduce the risk of migration
• Radiopaque markers at each end and mid-point for precise positioning
• Available in lengths of 60, 80, 115 and 135mm
• Standard stent body diameter is 25mm.
• 18, 20, & 23mm diameters available upon request
