The Safe-T-Centesis^TM drainage system is specifically designed to reduce the risks associated with percutaneous thoracentesis and paracentesis. The silicone coated, pigtail catheter uses a unique self-sealing valve to maintain a closed system and combines a number of technical innovations, including the Veress^TM Technology Dual-Lumen Blunt Obturator and visual colour indicator.

Visual Colour Indicator

Transitions to red when sharp distal tip is exposed and returns to ‘safe white’ when spring-loaded obturator is extended, presenting an atraumatic front to injury.

Modular Design

For procedures not requiring maintenance of a closed system, the luer lock connection allows convenient removal of pigtail catheter from valve assembly

Remote Stopcock

Provides procedural convenience and safety by facilitating connection to drainage / extension sets while minimising inadvertent device or catheter movement

6 or 8Fr Pigtail Catheter

Minimally invasive, self directing and occlusion resistant

Self-Sealing Valve

Maintains closed system or allows for reinsertion of introducer needle or guidewires (for procedures not requiring maintenance of a close system)

Centimetre Depth Markings

Reliable reference for safe catheter placement with 16cm of usable catheter length

Veress^TM Technology Dual Lumen Blunt Obturator

Provides patient protection from perforations and reduces the risk of needle stick injury
