UK Medical Products Cutting Hospital Admissions and Winning Awards
UK Medical is delighted to announce that use of the Pleurx system has led to a top award for West Essex Cancer Care.
UK Medical’s Pleurx catheter enables patients with recurrent malignant pleural effusion to manage their condition at home, rather than having to be admitted to hospital each time drainage is required. Once the Pleurx catheter is inserted, patients can be discharged and manage drainage in the comfort of their own home.
Dr Douglas Newberry, Chest Specialist, and Respiratory Nurse, Ram Gulrajani, of Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow have pioneered the system in West Essex and their success has been recognised with an Innovation Award from The Nursing Times.
UK Medical’s team provide training on the use of the Pleurx system to medical staff within primary and secondary care.
